In design it's important to remember there are always a few important rules to follow, however setting your own trends is the best way to design something. It is good to have unique work that you alone will be recognized for. However, it's still important to make sure the picture you're making is a picture that is nice to look at. If the font is unreadable, or the colors don't agree with each other, your picture won't be a good one. It's key to make sure the picture is smooth to look at, its surroundings compliment each other, while also maintaining originality.
